Please Outline the Key Steps to the Performance of Acid Washing a Residential Swimming Pool?
Question?
Q: Cool day. Reading at Barnes and Noble Bookstore, the suggestion in many of the Pool Maintenance books recommended an Acid Wash. The pool I have has not been performing up to par. Oh, you may need to know that it is a Diamond Brite surface. It now has some very unsightly stains, which do not come off. After brushing and rubbing for days, still no luck. Can you highlight the key steps to the process? An easy one, hopefully.
Excellent, thank you.

A:
Yes, it is always something. Acid Washing is not necessarily the job for everyone. If you are very hands on and knowledgeable of pool chemicals and maintenance, you might be able to do this. In general, we would only recommend this for a trained professional. At a high level, you first drain the pool. Systematically, the entire surface of the pool is washed, rinsed, and repeated. Only a certain amount of the pool surface can be washed at a time. Muriatic acid is used to exfoliate the pool aggregate and get the outer layer of the old grout out.
We like to be creative.
Of course, do write if you have any more thoughts.
