When Do I Add Chlorine Stabilizer to the Swimming Pool?
Question?
Q: Happy evening to all. I have been a pool owner for a long time, and I always paid somebody to maintain my pool. Lately, my financial situation has made me cut some services including pool service. I will probably come back with more pool questions. For now...When do I add chlorine stabilizer? Sure hope you understand.
Your kind to help out.

A:
Happy to answer. Using unstabilized chlorine products to sanitize the pool can extend the life expectancy and efficiency of the free available Chlorine residual if you also add Cyanuric Acid Chlorine Stabilizer to outdoor pools. Indoor pools that are not exposed to UV rays of the sun do not require the use of Stabilizer.
You should add enough Stabilizer to raise the Cyanuric Acid levels to 40 ppm (parts per million). When Cyanuric Acid levels drop below 30 ppm, free Chlorine dissipates faster. However, a pool maintained on stabilized chlorinating products will have a replenishing source of Stabilizer.
You have to make sure that you Stabilizer levels do not go over 100 ppm. This is one of the key elements of high quality pool service. The pleasure is all ours.
Your input is always appreciated.
