Understanding Swimming Pool Salt, When do I Add More?
Question?
Q: Good to be back. My salt system is showing a red light! I am having a family get together, and must get this fixed.
I know it has been raining a lot in recent weeks. I stopped by pinch a penny, and they said I should add salt to the pool. How often should I add salt to my swimming pool? Do I have to add salt at all? Moreover, Why? Sure could use your help.
Thanks a bunch. Bye bye.

Happy to help. Number one, you need to test your swimming pool water for salt, cyanuric acid, pH, alkalinity, and calcium. These numbers are the critical factors to make chemical adjustments as necessary.
A red light in a salt chlorine generator can mean different things. It depends on the brand, and it can be and indicator of low flow, low salt, or a check cell light indicator.
Chances are you just need some salt after the recent heavy rains. The rainwater does dilute the salt. A heavy pool use also brings your salt levels down. Hope we got it right for you.
