How to Determine if the Swimming Pool is Leaking?
Question?
Q: This should just take a moment. It seams as if I have been adding quite a bit of water lately. Calling a pool service company can result in unnecessary costs, even if there is no leak. How can I tell if my swimming pool is leaking or not, without calling the pool service technician? Thanks for being a good helper.
A great day to ya.

Excellent to have heard from you. The Bucket Test will define if loss of water in a swimming pool is due to evaporation or to the always-dreaded leak:
| Add water to the swimming pool to a normal level. |
| Fill up a five to seven gallon bucket with pool water, to about 3-4 inches from top. |
| Place the bucket on the first or second step of the pool. |
| Mark the water level on the inside of the bucket. |
| Shut down the system and mark the pool water level on the outside of the bucket. |
| Resume normal pump operation. If applicable, turn off auto/manual fill valve off during leak test. |
| 24 hours later, compare the two levels. If the pool water level outside of the bucket goes down more than the inside water level, this indicates there is probably a leak. |
This test is not good in case of rain. Yes, that is it.
Hope all goes well.
