Ask Your Pool Question?

High Readings on the Swimming Pool Pressure Gauge?

Question?

Q: Good afternoon site helper. I would like to participate. My swimming pool pressure gauge has always been around 15 to 25 pound per square foot, but I looked at it today, getting it ready for the new season, and it's reading 60. It was at 50 even when the pump was not on? What is going on here? Well enough, this is our particular question.

Yes, our best regards. Nice Q&A section.

Jorge Riddell (Fort Ogden Florida)

Answer!

A: Welcome back, thanks for stopping by. Here is how it goes. Since the pressure reading, when the pool system is off should be zero pounds per square foot, the gauge most be broken. Sometimes taping on it will get it back to normal. Make sure the return valves are open, take the filter cartridge out, and close the filter casing. Run the pool pump with out the cartridge, and check the reading again as a last test. There is always a chance that your filter is very dirty, or that you need a new one. Excellent, a correct way to try. Onward.

Concluding, please spread the word. Final thoughts are complete.
