How Do I Fix a Green Pool Problem?
Question?
Q: Hola, How are you. I am in a desperate situation. I have done my own pool service for a long time, and never been in such a deep hole. My swimming pool has turned completely green, to the point that it looks like a pea soup. That is about it.
Thank you.

A:
Hello, nice to hear from you. This is very common this time of the year. Do not stress. It is not worth it, and the solution is very simple: Blast it with chlorine and acid (only if it is a concrete pool). It looks like your pool has not been green for a long time, which would be a different story. For a volume average of 10,000 gallons of water:
|
| You should add from 12 to 15 gallons of pool grade liquid chlorine, and one gallon of acid. |
|
| Brush the surface in its totality. |
|
| Make sure the filter system runs continuously until water is clear. |
|
| Clean the filter every other day. |
That should take care of your pool problem in a week. Later, you have to balance the alkalinity, which is probably very low after adding so much acid. Just the straight scoop from us.
Sincerely, the best of day to you.
