Why Do I Need Stabilizer In My Pool Water?
Question?
Q: Top of the day to you. I went to the local store to buy chemicals, since the quality of my pool water was not as great as is has been in the past. They told me that, besides a lot of liquid chlorine, I needed to buy cyanuric acid. Was it necessary? That is the end of the story.
Only the best wishes.

A:
Hi there. I agree that you do not need to spend any more money than you have to. Now being the summer, it is possible that your pool needs a couple of pounds of stabilizer to compensate for water dilution, do to the heavy rains. The cyanuric acid levels are supposed to be between 40 and 80 parts per million (ppm) to work properly. The stabilizer helps to maintain chlorine readings by combining with it at the molecular level and preventing it from being burned by the sun.
Come back soon.
And you are not even the first person that has asked me about this today.
