Ask Your Pool Question?

How do you Control the Snowy Effect on a Vinyl Salt System Swimming Pool, Such as the Ones that the Water comes from a Well?

Question?

Q: Good morning site helper. I know it is early for this. We just had a new pool with vinyl liner installed with a salt water system. We have to fill it up with well water, and cannot control a snowy effect in the water. What can we do? Well enough, this is the special circumstance.

Well, thanks ahead. No rush.

Claudio Filip (Floral City Florida)

Answer!

A: Nice to hear from you, we have some answers. Ok, here we go. Salt system pools have the tendency to high pH levels, and well water has a high Calcium content. This could be producing scale. If pH is higher than 8.0, add Muriatic or Sulfuric Acid in small quantities, first to a bucket with water and mix, then add to the deep end of the swimming pool. You can buy a metal sequester solution at any local chemical supplier and add it to the water to prevent scale or stains from the well water. There, that is the one. Signing off.

All right now, just spreading the knowledge. We only want the best.
